about

A love song about archery and also probably death.

Recorded mostly in GarageBand on a wimpy iPad mini using my stepfather's guitar over the Victoria Day weekend.

lyrics

She pulls me taut like the bowstring,
but her arrow is her target.
I could leave her forest,
but she'd never miss me.

And I long to lay there
beneath the streaking arc,
as the deep red pools well up
from the pierced skin of the earth.

And I long to lay there
and feel the breeze of her arrows
soaring violently past the skin of my face
and sinking deep into the skin of the earth.

There's no sound in her footfalls
and no sport when she hunts me.
She could cut me open and use me
and leave no part gone to waste.

And I long to lay there
beneath the streaking arc,
as the deep red pools well up
from the pierced skin of the earth.

And I long to lay there
as it disappears into the sun.
Watch it come back screaming,
down from the skies,
to pin me to the skin of the earth.

about

Rab Townsend Toronto

Took piano lessons for some many years.
The lessons weren't for me, but the piano was.

There are sounds in our feelings - or mine at least.
Consider me the funnel through which those feelings ooze into some kind of pool in your ear holes.

It's not completely my fault that feelings sound so melancholy. I promise.
